The technical interview is a difficult and stressful part of the hiring process.

If you’ve ever tried to get your first job as a DevOps engineer, you know that very well. If you didn’t succeed, you probably assumed it was because you lacked technical knowledge. However, no one expects you to have the right answers to every question they ask.

The truth is that most technical interviewers want to examine the way you think.

That’s right, most technical interviewers want to examine how you think.

They want to know the way you approach the problem and how you are planning to fix it. They want you to think out loud and discuss the answers to the questions they ask. If you present the solution, they want to know what other choices you had and why you picked the specific one.

That’s why you need to go into the interview with a plan.

From my experience, the most important skills you need to expose during the interview are communication and critical thinking.
