I’ve wanted to start writing online for quite some time, but I only decided to do it in September 2023.

Many factors held me back, such as fear of what my colleagues would think of me, etc. I won’t talk about that in this article because that’s not what it’s about.

Today, 7 months later, I have 51 stories written, and I decided to share my stats.

I wrote my first story in September 2023.

Three years ago, I became a DevOps engineer, and I decided to help other people take the same step, so I started writing articles aimed at junior DevOps engineers and those aspiring to become DevOps engineers.

Even before I started writing, I read articles from various online writers, and they all said that writing is a long game. They all said that I shouldn’t expect instant recognition. They all said that the most important thing is persistence.

Luckily for me, I listened to them and did not stop writing, even when it seemed to me that no one needed it and I was writing into the void.

Today, after 7 months of writing online, I started to see the results.

I wrote 51 stories in 7 months. It’s about 7 stories a month, and here are my stats.

The last slide is the statistics for today, April 13.

We are not even in the middle of the month, but I already have twice as many views and reads as in March.

So don’t give up, and don’t rush.

Writing online is a long game, step by step.

I believe that any article will find a reader in the end.

Update for May 1, 2024.

Here are the statistics for April: 12.2K views and 6.7K reads.
It’s about 600% more than the previous month.

Half of the views come from one single article, the DevOps project I did and wrote about.

Here is the URL

I also had dramatic followers grow during April.

I believe if I write about more projects I create, I will get much more views and followers.
